The Importance of Wedding Details: Personalize Your Day with Meaningful Touches
When planning your wedding, it’s easy to get caught up in the big picture—venue, dress, and guest list—but don’t overlook the small details. These little touches are what make your wedding truly yours and can have a huge impact on both the vibe of your day and the final photos.
Incorporating personal details that represent you as a couple adds layers of meaning to the celebration. Think about what makes your relationship unique—whether it’s custom decor, family heirlooms, or meaningful symbols from your favorite shared experiences. These details don’t just enhance the aesthetic; they tell your story, creating a more memorable experience for you and your guests.
These details may include a special hanger for your dress/suit, your shoes, a piece of special jewelry, letters that you’ve written to one another. This is a part of your day where you get to add your own creative touch while telling your love story or honoring family traditions. These little memories can be so fun to plan for a put together on your wedding day.
WHAT IS A FLATLAY?
A flatly is a stylized editorial photograph taken from above that capture all of your little wedding details in one gorgeous photo. You can include your stationery, bridal shoes, flowers, or special family mementos. These photos preserve all of your special wedding trinkets, jewelry or heirlooms in a single shot. TIP: Ask your florist for some spare florals to include. This can really make the photos that much better!
WHAT DETAILS SHOULD I INCLUDE IN MY WEDDING DAY?
You can include anything in your flatly, as it’s all about things that have meaning to you. Here are a few suggestions to get you thinking: bottle of cologne, tie, cufflinks, socks, shoes, rings, perfume, earrings, and bouquet. Other details to think about bringing along are a few copies of your wedding stationery and invites and a ring box.
MAKE A DETAILS BOX:
I have all of my clients make a box of details filled with everything they want included in their flatlay or detail photos. When you take care of the small, essential details in advance, you can make sure nothing important ends up missing and you don’t have to worry about this on the day of your wedding. Gathering these items in advance and having them ready to go on the wedding day will make detail photos go quickly and ensure that you don’t have to worry about a thing.
It’s often the smallest touches that stand out most in wedding photos, from the embroidery on your dress, the scent of your bouquet, to the personalized stationery. These thoughtful elements bring your vision to life and elevate the mood of your day, making your photos feel more intimate and authentic. So, as you plan your wedding, take the time to think about the little details that matter most to you. After all, they’re the ones that make your celebration feel unique, and they’re the ones you’ll remember for years to come!
